In March 2015, I attended my second SURRENDER conference. I was the only participant from Wagga Wagga, NSW.
The theme was 'Making Things Right' - which included the impact of the gospel of Christ on our personal relationships, our churches and ministry to the marginalized (including indigenous people, asylum seekers, refugees, those living in poverty or with disability).
I particularly enjoyed some interactive Bible studies with the smiling, dreadlocked, flawed and forgiven Bishop of Wellington, NZ, Justin Duckworth. There was a 'lightbulb moment' when I recognized my calling to 'motherhood' in a broader sense of nurturing and caring for people individually and sacrificially.
From contemplative prayer in the morning through chatting with various stall holders in the 'Info Hub', sharing food at the 'Surrender Village' to singing along in worship, hearing from the Sth Sudan Youth Choir, being inspired by diverse speakers and enjoying the beautiful surroundings, I was glad to be there! See you at SURRENDER 17!
Join with us and Christians from across Australia at SURRENDER 17 | Embodying The Way as we seek to follow the way of Jesus and see individuals and communities impacted and changed by love.
