Volunteer for In-Prison Programs
Join a team of volunteers in prison providing women with practical skills, recreational activities and importantly, opportunities to share, reflect and develop an awareness of the changes required to build a better future.
Prison Network relies on passionate, dedicated volunteers to run our various in-prison programs. Each program has a different emphasis, but all are designed to:
Provide a welcoming space for women as respite from the harsh prison environment
Develop confidence and self-esteem
Build long term support networks through and with our trained support workers, staff and volunteers
Provide strategies designed to deal with negative emotions by creating spaces for self-reflection and interaction with others
Enhance relationships between mothers, children, and their extended families.
Programs include:
Game On Day – come and play a range of sports and games with the women (Saturdays 4-6 weekly)
Fun with Mum – come and help the women connect with their children during visits (Sunday afternoons monthly)
Craft and Cooking – come and sit with the women helping them develop craft and cooking skills (Tuesdays weekly)
